Basic understanding of NARRATIVE:
Above is a video I found on YouTube roughly describing what narrative is. It helped me understand the meaning of narrative and how it is used. 

LINEAR NARRATIVE - Linear narratives present stories in a logical manner by telling what happens from one point in time to the next without using flashbacks or flash-forwards and then returning to the present.

Kuleshov Effect: - The Kuleshov effect is a film editing (montage) effect demonstrated by Soviet filmmaker Lev Kuleshov in the 1910s and 1920s. It is a mental phenomenon by which viewers derive more meaning from the interaction of two sequential shots than from a single shot in isolation.
